It has long been a vision of Te Whare Tū Taua o Aotearoa to make the art of Māori weaponry an internationally known body of knowledge, that through the commitment of all our factions around Aotearoa who have taught students and have then branched out overseas is the reason why Tū Hawaiki was formed under the mantle piece of Te Whare Tū Taua o Aotearoa.
To align all factions, in order to convey and solidify the concept of whānaungatanga in which Tū Hawaiki continues to follow.
With the strengthening of whānaungatanga, from our senior peka, Tū Horonuku (Kaikohe), Te Kōhao Tū Taua (Whangarei), Pokai Whenua (Northshore), Hoani Waititi Marae (Glen Eden), Te Ao Marama (South Auckland), Te Ahurewa Tapu Mau Taiaha (Porirua), TWTT ki Otautahi (Christchuch),TWTT ki Otepoti (Dunedin), TWTT ki Te Puka ā Māui (Invercargil) has joined the other overseas factions, Maramara Totara (London), Te Manawa Ora (Brisbane), TWTT o Te Ara Hononga ki Wikitoria (Melbourne) and Makapala (Hawaii), Abu Dabi (Dubai).
And to our Junior peka, incompassing our latest kaupapa te Tuku Ihotanga within our Wānanga Mauri Toa, Te Wharekura o Hoani Waititi Marae (Glen Eden), TKKM o Te Rakipae Whenua (North Auckland), Rākau Tātaki o Tiriwa (Massey High School), TWTT ki Taiātea (Hamilton), TWTT o Kahukuranui Uawa (Tolaga Bay), Ngā Tamatāne o Papa-i-oea (Palmerston North Boys High School).
Wherein lies the membership of our many Rangatahi (youth) and Pākeke (seniors), Tane (men) and Wahine (women) of Te Whare Tū Taua o Aotearoa.
